Our Business Your local Goodwill, a not-for-profit organization, is in the "Business of Changing Lives". Did you know that the proceeds from the sales of our clothing and merchandise is channeled into job training, job placement programs and other community services? Many people do not know that the reason we sell used merchandise is to have the funds to provide training and job opportunities. For example, there are employment opportunities through the CareerLink, light assembly jobs at our plant, janitorial contracts throughout the county, document imaging positions and several retail store opportunities. Career Development Center The career development process is a series of services offered to enable people with barriers to employment to participate in the identification, procurement and retention of a career. Anyone can walk into the CareerLink and receive our services. They may be employed but looking for another job, unemployed, disabled or have other barriers to employment. Our customers do not have to be referred. The service provides the customer with the tools to make career decisions based on needs, desires and available resources. Services include: Career/personal assessment; Social/life skills instruction; Job seeking skills instruction; Job coaching; Sign language communications; Ongoing vocational support; Short-term work experiences to investigate and appraise career opportunities; Driver's education; Title I case management and referral; On-the-job training. All Goodwill programs are designed and implemented by skilled professionals with degrees in the following areas: Education, Psychology, Health Education, Community Psychology, and Family Resources. Without donations and sales, we are unable to provide these services which contribute to the growth of our community. Goodwill Industries International, Inc.
